Knitting
About Knitting
A knitted fabric is created by interlocking loops of yarn with two or more needles. Its structure consists of horizontal rows of yarn loops, called stitches, that form a flexible grid. The yarn's weight and fiber type influence the fabric's feel and thickness. While various stitch patterns, such as ribbing or cables, add visual and tactile interest. The fabric's flexibility provides stretch, comfort and ease of movement.
Knitting can be done by hand using knitting needles. It can also be done using a knitting machine that is operated by a person, which is common for hobbyists or small-business knitters. Industrially a knitting machine operated by a computer/electronics is more conventional, as they work much faster than manual machines.
Repairs
To repair a hole in a knitted garment you can knit or crochet over the hole, sew a patch of textile over it, or use a needle and thread to sew together any loops that have been broken or stretched.
